Those who have been in Vojvodina would certainly say that its greatest wealth is expanse of arable land of this plain area in the north of Serbia. But others who know Vojvodina well, they would agree that people are those who make Vojvodina special, even 26 nations and national/ethnic groups are living in this region. It could be said that the province is treasury of folk customs, which presents great cultural richness.
Recently, we had an opportunity to enjoy in Slovak folklore and costumes at Festival “Tancuj, tancuj” (dance, dance), which was held in a small village Gložan, where the Slovak population prevails. We enjoyed in a parade of folklore companies, where we saw beautiful Slovakian traditional costumes from Vojvodina and from other European countries which took part in this festival. Concerts were held in amphitheater of sports and cultural educational center in Gložan. That is how we discovered complex OAZA MB (Oaza means oasis, but what MB stands for, we didn’t figure out).
As we said people in Vojvodina are real treasure, and we discovered Oaza’s treasure, a charming girl Bojana, who is managing the complex. Bojana was our kind and interesting host who showed us around and explained what kind of activities and unique experiences she and her team can arrange for Oaza’s guests. First of all Oaza attracts fishing fans, thanks to its lake area of 25.600 m² together with its fish stock 11 tons heavy. But not only fishermen can find their joy, this place is pretty convenient for short break into the rural area for couples or for families with children. Couples can enjoy privacy and calmness of the place with exceptional sunset over the lake, while families on the other hand can benefit on relaxing while children are occupied with miniature zoo they have put here, with few ponies, pigs, donkey and sheep or they can simply play in an indoor playground. Besides private usage we saw the complex as a pretty convenient venue for organizing various events thanks to it different capacities, such as a tennis court, swimming pool, volleyball court… Concerning accommodation, guest can choose between motel-type rooms and bungalows. Although rather basic, both of those are pretty comfortable, spacious and holding all basic amenities. If you look for a place where you can spend a weekend with your sweetheart, or some time with your family, definitely you should take this place under consideration. Besides fishing and family retreat, complex could be very convenient for team buildings.
And of course the food… Oaza’s culinary team was recently improved with a new chef who raised preparing food to a higher level, as we were informed. Did we fall for it? Of course not, we had to try it on our own, so we were advised to try a house specialty – Grilled carp. And believe it or not, the meal was just perfect, it was definitely the best carp we ever had, honestly! Carp steaks were grilled just right, while vegetables and sauce were adding exceptional touch to the whole picture. We must say that we were pleasantly surprised with the meal. Bravo for the chef!
At the end let’s summarize. The day was complete success, not only because we enjoyed Slovak folklore and beauty of costumes, but because we discovered an interesting place not too far from urban centers (Novi Sad – 26km, Belgrade – 118km) which offers variety of options for leisure or active break. Just to have one thing straight, if you are looking for luxury accommodation or fancy resort with concierge service, you should then look elsewhere, but if you look for a peaceful place to make a break from daily routine this might be a good choice, especially having in mind another important fact, prices here are “wallet friendly”.
