Tour Flow
#YourSerbiaHost will pick you up from your address in the city (the usual start time is 10am) and he’ll take you directly to the Belgrade Fortress. When you reach the fortress, you’ll continue on foot.
During the walk through the fortress, you’ll hear many Turkish words like: sahat tower, turbe, stambol gate… Each of these words refers to important parts of the fortress. Which those are, you’ll discover on the way. Of course, if you want to deepen your knowledge of the fortress, we will tell you stories about the period when the fortress was a Roman military camp, or about the curious Ružica Church. Further, you’ll enjoy the most impressive view over the confluence of two rivers, Sava and Danube.
On the way to Zemun, but still in the part of the city influenced by the Ottomans, you’ll pass by Kosančićev Venac, a Serbian quarter developed under the Ottoman rule, with its most remarkable sights: Orthodox Cathedral, Residence of princess Ljubica, Patriarchy and the Tavern “?”.
Finally, you’ll reach Zemun, the town within a town. Today, it’s known for its fascinating restaurants and taverns, but only a century ago it was part of a powerful Austro-Hungarian Empire. Talking about taverns and restaurants, we know a perfect one for a break. This small family owned place is hidden in the old streets of Zemun with a great view over the Danube. The most exciting and intriguing part of Zemun is Gardoš with its old houses, churches and hidden corners. At the very top of Gardoš is located the Millennium Tower which oversees the area. From this place you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Zemun and the Danube.
After the visit to the Gardoš summit, you’ll walk the narrow streets of the neighborhood till you reach the very central square of Zemun. For those willing to try some local flavors, we’ll find some seasonal products in the farmer’s market to taste directly at the counter.
Your Belgrade tour ends here (usually around 2pm) and we’ll take you back to your drop-off point.
