Tour Flow

#YourSerbiaHost will pick you up from your hotel or other address in Belgrade (or Novi Sad) in the morning hours (usual pickup time 10am). After less than hour’s drive you’ll reach your first stop, monastery Krusedol. The XVI century monastery is considered to be the most beautiful and most important monastery of Fruska Gora. Here you’ll get the historic context of the area, but you’ll also have an opportunity to see “a wall which is older than the US”, as referred to by one of the monks.

After the spiritual experience in Krusedol, you’ll reach Sremski Karlovci. Here you’ll wander its streets and squares. You’ll hear the stories about Karlovac Treaty and the first time when a round table was used in world diplomacy. In the town’s center you’ll see: Four Lions Fountain, Patriarch’s Residence, St. Nicola’s Orthodox Cathedral, Grammar School. If wine tasting is your thing, we’ll take you to a winery close to the main square for a quick sip.

Before you get to Novi Sad, you’ll enjoy a splendid view from the famous Petrovaradin Fortress. Here you’ll learn more about its long construction and why it was never attacked in its history. Next you’ll meet the second largest city in Serbia – Novi Sad and discover its importance for Serbian people. Marvel its baroque architecture, amazing squares and find out why it is considered as a cultural capital of Serbia. Your private guide will share all this interesting stories, as you explore Novi Sad pedestrian area.

The gastronomy and hospitality experience will be in a family owned wine cellar in a local village. Home cooked lunch with matching wines will taste even better than it sounds. Another must when in Fruska Gora is Bermet, a dessert wine with world fame which is served at the end of the meal. All this with the personal attention of a cook and a winemaker.

After wine tasting and lunch it’ll be time to return to Belgrade (or Novi Sad). Usual drop-off time is between 5 and 6pm.

Additional Monastery

If you wish to learn more about Serbian spirituality, we can customise the tour and add a visit to another monastery in the area – the Monastery Grgeteg. This monastery with complicated name, even for native speakers, is a place which is not on mass tourism trail. Here you’ll be able to feel what the monastic life really looks like. The highlight of this monastery is the icon of Holy Mother Three-handed. More about the icon’s name and its miracles you’ll learn on the spot.

We really enjoyed this tour. Our host Vlada was very informative and knew a lot about the history and culture of the local area. We really appreciated his help and he went out of his way to give us more information when we asked about hiking in the area. Serbian Private Tours provided nice little personalized touches that made the experience extra special. We would highly recommend booking a tour with them. Wonder what’s the best way to explore Serbia more in depth? Hire a trip with Serbian Private Tours!! We started out early one morning, picked up at the hotel for a ride through the city to see the sites -before heading north on the highway. Visiting monasteries and wining and dining, it was supposed to be lunch but we were treated with delicious local dishes and wine that simply were exquisite. Our guide! Our guide spoke very well English – and Norwegian! Friendliest guy you can imagine with huge knowledge about his country, a continuous history lesson – and a lecture Serbian social studies that we highly appreciated. A trip to remember, highly recommended – if we return to Serbia, which we most likely will – another trip with Serbian Private Tours will be on the program. Thanks!

Our tour guide, Miljan, provided in-depth knowledge about the unique region and rich history of Fruska Gora. On our road trip, we visited many ancient monasteries and exquisitely painted chapels. We drove through the winding countryside visiting traditional villages, picturesque farms, and serene forests. The personal introduction to our host at a local winery, Mr. Miljevic, added a very personal dimension. We were given a private tour of his wine cellar and we enjoyed sampling a variety of wines paired with five courses of a delicious home-cooked Serbian meal.

We took the Sremski Karlovci and Fruska Gora monasteries tour and were generally very pleased with the experience. Our guide, Miljan, was polite and informative, punctual and made the trip very interesting for us. The lunch was delicious and the wine superb! I highly recommend this tour and would certainly arrange another one for my next visit to Serbia.

We had a wonderful time touring the Fruska Gora region w Vladislav. He was thoughtful and informative and sensitive to how long we wanted to stay at each site. The day was perfect...can't wait to do another tour on my next trip to Serbia.
