Tour Flow
#YourSerbiaHost will pick you up in the morning (usual start time 10am) from your hotel and after an hour long drive you’ll reach Topola. Your first stop in exploration of Oplenac complex is Karađorđe’s Town, a spot which once was a fortress built by Karađorđe during his reign. Later this fortress was demolished, so today we can see only the residency with the tower (presently used as a museum of Karađorđe’s personal belongings) and Church of Holy Mother also known as Karađorđe’s Church.
From Karađorđe’s Town we’ll take you further to the top of Oplenac Hill, where you’ll continue the exploration with the gorgeous mausoleum of family Karađorđević, Saint George’s Church. In this church 27 members of the royal family were buried. Significant characteristic of the church is its mosaic interior decoration with 40 million pieces in 15,000 shades of color.
On the slopes of Oplenac, King Peter I planted vineyards on 38 hectares from which they made superb Triumph wines in his King’s Winery, which is your next stop on the tour. The label was exported to major European royal courts. The highlight of the winery is the oldest Serbian wine collection in an authentic archive from the 1930s.
After descent from Oplenac, your trip continues a few kilometers further to the rural setting of the village Vinča and Winery Aleksandrović. If you are a wine buff or even if you just appreciate a good glass of wine, this is your chance to try some of the best wines in Serbia. Here you’ll learn why this winery carries a title of boutique and premium wine producer.
As a logical finale of a day filled with local experiences, we’ll take you to the nearby Aranđelovac. A town known for good food. In one of the local ethnic restaurants you’ll have a chance to taste typical local cuisine in an authentic Šumadija ambiance.
After lunch it’s only an hour drive to get you back to the city. The usual end of Topola and Oplenac Private Tour is between 5 and 6pm.
